¿Qué Pasa, Midwest?

¿Qué Pasa, Midwest? is a bilingual podcast that creates a sense of community for Midwestern Latinx who are missing an essential piece of their cultural identity. We do that by sharing their stories to create a sense of hope and alliance. We also foster education on divisive issues.

Let us know what's happening, en tu ciudad, in your city! Submit your ideas! Dejanos saber de que estan hablando en el Medio Oeste.

Nativity Church on Evansville South East side celebrated Mexican Independence Day a few days early.

Sunday afternoon, families from Evansville, Mexico and a sprinkling of Latino countries gathered outside the church for a picnic and games.

Outreach coordinator and University of Southern Indiana alumnus Cesar Berrios was there representing Office of Hispanic Ministry.

Berrios,a native Nicaraguan, said this event is about celebrating the cultural diversity throughout Latin America.

The University of Southern Indiana is partnering with HOLA and EVSC on its third Community Health Center, located at Lodge Community School.

The new health clinic, which had its “soft opening” Thursday, aims to serve the surrounding Latino community.

HOLA is a non-profit based in Evansville that holds regular health fairs for Hispanic immigrants in various locations around the Tri-State.  Volunteers from USI's nursing department regularly work these events, hence the partnership on the new health center.
