Young Abe movie to premier in Evansville

You’ll soon have an opportunity to see a new film on the life of Abraham Lincoln during his years in southern Indiana.

The new movie called “The Better Angels” is produced by acclaimed director Terrence Malick, and will be screened at USI on Wednesday, November 5th -- two days before it opens in New York and Los Angeles.

Kendell Thompson is Superintendent of the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial in Spencer County, where Lincoln spent his formative years. He says the film is the first one that deals with Lincoln's boyhood years.

“The Better Angels” was shot in black and white, and Thompson describes it as ‘visual” with little dialogue.

The film will be shown free of charge at USI’s Forum One, Wednesday, Nov 5th, at 6:00 p.m. A discussion of the film will follow the screening.
