Winnecke to urge casino bill signing

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is hopeful that Tropicana Evansville will move inland, and free-up its current location for LST 325.

Winnecke says he’s pleased that the Indiana Legislature approved a measure to allow riverboat casinos to move onto land, within their current footprint.

He says the bill is now on the desk of Governor Mike Pence, who has said he opposes an expansion of gambling.

The bill does not allow live dealers at the state’s two central Indiana racetracks until 2021 – after a potential second term for Governor Pence.

Winnecke say he will urge the governor to sign the bill. He also says the prospect of moving LST 325 to the current riverboat casino location would boost the historic ship’s attendance.
