Wide searches planned for Beckerle

Volunteers are needed to help search for a missing Evansville woman this weekend.

A Texas organization called EquuSearch will coordinate large-scale searches both Saturday and Sunday for 19-year-old Aleah Beckerle.

The disabled woman has been missing from her home on East Iowa Street for nearly two weeks.

The organization is expected to employ people on ATVs to search on land, kayakers to search on water, and even paragliders to search from the air.

Persons who want to help the EquuSearch team must be at least 18-years-old, have a valid ID, and be dressed appropriately. The team recommends long pants, long-sleeve shirts, a hat, and boots.

You should also bring plenty of water and a way to carry it.

Volunteers must report to Delaware School at Garvin and Iowa no later than 8:00 a.m.

Evansville police say they believe someone removed Beckerle from her home and left her wheelchair behind.

The state of Indiana has issued a silver alert and police are asking anyone with information about Beckerle’s whereabouts to come forward.
