"Super Fan" Gray dies

Evansville “super fan” Marvin Gray has died.

Gray was a fixture at local sporting events for decades.

He operated the manual scoreboard at Bosse Field during Evansville Triplets games in the 1970’s and ‘80s.

He was also responsible for raising and lowering the flag at Evansville Otters games.

The team tweeted about Gray’s passing with a “heavy heart” and sent thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

The Otters organization also said Gray would be remembered every time the flag flies high above Bosse Field.

In 2011, the Otters honored Gray with his own bobblehead night and in 2012, the University of Evansville honored him with Marvin Gray Night at an Aces' basketball game at the Ford Center.

Gray was 74 years old.
