Small plane, Owensboro pilot missing in western KY

Kentucky authorities are searching for a small plane and its pilot after the aircraft failed to return to Owensboro Regional Airport as scheduled on Monday.

A news release from Kentucky State Police identifies the missing pilot as 70-year-old Robert Dalzall Jr. of Owensboro.

Dalzall was supposed to return from an airport in Grayson County.

Authorities say the single-engine plane left Falls of Rough Airport at about 11:20 a.m. Monday. His last cell phone ping was about ten minutes later.

That ping indicated he was about five miles from the airport in Grayson County.

The Kentucky Civil Air Patrol has dispatched two planes to search for Dalzall and his aircraft.
