Thousands of people have taken to Facebook and Twitter to urge officials to name a new Kentucky bridge after Colonel Sanders.
Colonel Harlan Sanders was born in Henryville, Indiana and opened his first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky. A social media campaign is underway to name a new Ohio River bridge at Louisville after him.
A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet official tells The Courier-Journal the local government could be petitioned, which could lead to another avenue for naming the landmark.
A proposal to name the new bridge after former President Ronald Regan has also been introduced in the Kentucky legislature.
