Search continues for Beckerle

The search continues for a disabled young woman who’s been missing since Sunday.

Evansville police say they believe someone removed 19-year-old Aleah Beckerle from her home on East Iowa Street, and left her wheelchair behind.

Authorities say Beckerle can't walk or communicate effectively and needs medical attention.

The state of Indiana has issued a silver alert and police are asking anyone with information about Beckerle to come forward.

Supporters have set-up a search “command post” on the parking lot of St. Joseph School at Iowa and Garvin streets.

WNIN News asked one of the volunteers, Britanny Burton, about the effort. She says volunteers are knocking on doors, visiting businesses, and putting up flyers.

Donna Robertson is Beckerle’s cousin. She says searchers are getting help from the Polly Klass Foundation. The national organization is sending free flyers and posting them at truck stops nationwide.

The searchers have also started a Facebook group called "Bring Aleah Home."

Volunteers can join the search at Garvin and Iowa, just a few blocks from Beckerle’s home.
