Princeton man dies after officer-involved shooting

Indiana State Police troopers shot a Princeton man to death in Vincennes.

A news release from state police said it happened just before 9:00 Tuesday night on the parking lot of a Chuckles convenience store at 1744 Old Decker Road in Vincennes.

Sgt. Todd Ringle said troopers were looking for 35-year-old David Zimmerman of Princeton, who was wanted for a parole violation.

Troopers spotted the man driving a pickup truck onto the parking lot of the convenience store.

Ringle said troopers in unmarked vehicles pulled behind Zimmerman’s truck, and Zimmerman put  his vehicle in reverse and crashed into of one of the unmarked cars.

Troopers said they opened fire when Zimmerman reached for a weapon. 

Zimmerman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, where he died from his injuries. 

Police said a search of Zimmerman’s revealed a handgun.
