New Harmony looking for school ideas

What will become of the vacant New Harmony school building?

The New Harmony Town Council has voted to accept plans and ideas to re-purpose the school, which closed in 2012 because of declining attendance and a drop in state funding.

The Town Council is accepting requests for proposals – known as RFP’s – from developers with plans and resources to develop some or all of the property.

It includes the school building, a playground, baseball and softball fields, a soccer field, a parking lot, and a storage building.

New Harmony officials say they’re looking for ways to attract more residents, tourists, and consumers to the historic Posey County town.

The Town Council is accepting proposals through April 10th.
