Man accused of dirty notes at USI

Deputies have arrested a man accused of leaving sexually explicit notes on car windshields at USI.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies assigned to the USI Patrol Unit began an investigation after several female students contacted authorities to report obscene notes left on their vehicles.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said the notes suggested the offender had been watching each victim prior to leaving the note.

Detectives were able to develop fingerprints and palm prints from the notes and submitted them to the Automated Fingerprint Identification System.

This week, detectives were notified that the prints matched 31-year-old Aaron Douglas Otto of Newburgh.

Deputies arrested Otto outside his home Thursday and booked him into the Vanderburgh County jail on $3,000 bond.

He faces misdemeanor charges of Intimidation and Harassment.

Sheriff Dave Wedding said the activities may not have been confined to the USI campus, and he urged other victims to come forward.
