Fall Festival underway on Franklin St.

If it can be deep fried and put on a stick, you can probably find it on West Franklin Street in Evansville.

The West Side Nut Club is celebrating its 94th Fall Festival with more than 125 food booths, carnival rides and games, parades, live music, and talent shows.

The food varies from traditional festival fare like pronto pups, brain sandwiches, and caramel apples to more unusual “delicacies” like deep fried Oreos, deep fried Kool-Aid balls, and even deep fried peanut butter and jelly.

Not everything is deep fried, and 33 items at 21 booths have been designated as “wise choices” by Deaconess Health.

Just one booth offers Rolaids.

The not-for-profit food booths open for lunch at 11:00 each day this week. The carnival rides and games open at 2:00 Monday through Thursday and close at 10:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. They’re open until 11:00 Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. They open at 11:00 Friday morning and 10:00 Saturday morning.

METS is providing shuttle service between the parking lot behind the Civic Center and West Franklin Street Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The festival raises money for participating not-for-profits and the Nut Club, which donates proceeds to schools and other local organizations.
