Evansville among lowest cost of living cities

A new survey shows Evansville has the 2nd lowest cost of living in the United States.

Three Indiana cities make up the top 3 in the survey released by niche.com: Fort Wayne, Evansville, and South Bend.

It’s the second straight year for Ft. Wayne and Evansville at the top of the list. South Bend moved up 3 spots.

Indianapolis is ranked 18th in this year’s survey, up from No. 25.

Niche.com says it uses numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to determine the rankings.

Factors include Home Value to Income Ratio, Property Taxes, Median Home Value, Median Rent, Monthly Housing Cost to Income Ratio, Rent to Income Ratio, and Consumer Price Index numbers for gasoline and groceries.
