EPD to host shooter response course

The Evansville Police Department will host shooter response training this spring.

The EPD is teaming up with the ALICE Training Institute for the instructor certification.

ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.

In a news release, the EPD said the two-day course is designed to teach survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents for law enforcement, workplace, hospital, non-profit, government, church administrators and safety professionals.

The training was planned before Wednesday’s deadly school shooting in south Florida.

The classes are set for June 4th and 5th at the CK Newsome Center.

The training costs $595 and interested persons can register online at AliceTraining.com.

The release said those who complete the training will gain access to ALICE resources.
