3 arrested in New Year's shooting

Evansville Police have arrested 3 people in connection with the New Year’s Day shooting death of D’Angelo White.

A 4th suspect remains at large.

Investigators believe White was lured to the 1400 block of S. Bedford by 17 year old Carissa Robinson. She’s charged as an adult in the case.

A news release from the EPD states Robinson sent White a message saying she wanted to buy marijuana from him.

Police believe the drug deal was arranged with the purpose of robbing White.

Police said as White and Robinson conducted the drug deal, 18-year-old Mykel Blair, 20-year-old Noah Coleman, and 38-year-old Derrick Butts approached the car.

Police believe Blair fired shots into the car hitting White, who was able to drive away but soon crashed.

He died of gunshot wounds.

Police said they recovered 68 grams of marijuana in White’s car, worth less than $500.

EPD investigated an incident in November where Blair and another man were wounded near the intersection of Monroe and Evans.

Police said neither Blair nor the other victim cooperated with investigators.

Robinson, Blair, and Butts are in the Vanderburgh County Jail facing murder, conspiracy, and robbery charges.

Police are still looking for Coleman.
